The sun shone for little Heidi’s special day last month as family and friends gathered at Eastington Community Centre for her welcoming and naming ceremony.
Dressed in a beautiful outfit, we celebrated her arrival by telling her story. This began with a long wait for her Mum and Dad before they received the welcome news that they were to become parents.
Her parents had carefully prepared their promises to her, which they read together. 3 of her guide parents then read their promises on behalf of all 6 guide parents;
“Heidi, we promise to be your friends and Guide parents, to offer you love, support, comfort and understanding, however great or small. We promise to love you, to have a special place in our hearts for you to take a role in seeing your wellbeing as you meet life’s challenges along the way. Heidi, we promise to believe in you, to nurture your free spirit, self believe and independence, to inspire your dreams and ambitions.”
We gave Heidi her life name, sprinkling her feet with rose water as we did so, ending with a blessing.
It was a lovely day and a prefect way to mark and celebrate the arrival of a beautiful little girl.
