Around 120 guests gathered at Lapstone Barn, Chipping Campden for the wedding of Rachael and Kenny. The weather was not wonderful but needless to say this did not dampen anyone’s spirits, not least as the couple planned to have their ceremony inside anyway.
A pianist played as the guests gathered, then everyone stood for the arrival of the bride and her party. Rachael was accompanied by her Mum, who after hugging her son-in-law to be, joined the other guests.
After welcoming everyone, which included remembering loved ones no longer with us, we talked a little about the couple’s journey to date – how they met and the joys and sorrows already shared. One of the bridesmaid’s, a lifelong friend of the bride, read an original poem she had penned herself. It is so lovely when family and friends include original material as part of the ceremony.
The second reading was by two of Kenny’s friends who had travelled from Singapore for the occasion and was the light-hearted “Your Personal Penguin” by Sandra Boynton. The couple then exchanged vows, which they had each written with great care.
Their vows were sealed through the exchange of rings and after the blessing there was of course the obligatory kiss!
Wishing them both a long, happy and fruitful union.
