Several months ago I was approached by a potential groom about leading a wedding ceremony for him and his partner of 20 years. The plans were to be a complete surprise to the bride, however!
With the kind agreement of organisers of the 2000 Trees Music Festival in Gloucestershire, arrangements were put in place for the ceremony to take place by one of the smaller stages in a beautiful woodland setting.
After arriving and the festival and just 36 hours before the ceremony was due to take place, the groom proposed. The bride was completely taken by surprise, but fortunately she accepted! She was even more astonished to find out several close friends had been in on the secret and would be arriving at the festival within hours.
Saturday morning saw a gathering of family and friends in front of one of the music stages. Behind an inner circle of family and friends, all wearing coloured garlands, other festival goers watched as the bride arrived, accompanied by two of her daughters. The third daughter acted as ‘best woman’. A stick of broccoli served as the ring cushion!
It was a truly joyous occasion and a wonderful mixture of love and fun!
Wishing the bride and groom the best of futures together!
