The Holford Arms, Tetbury was the setting for the wedding for this lovely couple back in August. It was a beautiful day, with blue skies and sunshine.
Our ceremony was held outdoors, with guests arranged to form a traditional aisle through the middle. The ceremony area was a raised stage and we used amplification to ensure everyone could see and hear the whole ceremony properly.
The bride entered, escorted by her father. After welcoming everyone, we told a little of the couple’s love story. The bride was from the North of the country and the groom from the South. Having never ventured beyond the Watford Gap prior to their relationship, meeting the bride’s family and friends had been an adventure for the groom!
The bride’s sister read the poem “Marriage is Madness”, which brought some smiles!;
Reading: “Marriage is Madness”, Anon.
Marriage is about giving and taking,
And forgiving and forsaking,
Kissing and loving,
Pushing and shoving,
Caring and sharing,
Screaming and swearing.
About being together whatever the
About being driven to the end of your tether,
About sweetness and kindness,
And wisdom and blindness.
It’s about being strong when you’re feeling
It’s about saying nothing when you’re dying to speak,
It’s about being wrong when you know you’re right,
It’s about giving in before there’s a fight.
It’s about you two living as cheaply as one,
(You can give us a call if you know how that’s done!)
Never heeding advice that was always
Never counting the cost until it’s all spent.
And for you two today it’s about to
And for all that the two of you had to put in,
Some days filled with joy,
And some days with sadness,
Too late you’ll discover that marriage is madness!
After exchanging vows and rings the couple paused to ‘sign the register’ whilst a piece of music was played, before the blessing and of course that first kiss.
Wishing this lovely couple all the love and happiness in the world for their future together.
